Discovering ‘Jordan Origami Academy’

Did you know that Jordan has the first ORIGAMI academy in the Middle East? (‘Origami’ = the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures.) And did you know that practicing origami develops important skills such as focus, patience, problem-solving and creativity?

STEPS is grateful to Ahmad and all the ‘Jordan Origami Academy’ team in Khilda for inviting us. Seventeen teenage girls from Baqa’a refugee camp had the chance to enjoy a two-hour session. It was captivating and we’d like to recommend it to anyone interested in learning origami or developing a new skill. To find out more see: facebook.com/JordanOrigamiAcademy .

After the paper folding activity we went to the nearby King Hussein Park and enjoyed the pleasant sunny weather, games and a delicious boxed lunch kindly offered by a donor. Thank you to all who participated to make this outing possible!
