New ‘Yalla Niqra’ Library in Al Hashemiyah

Thanks to the support of Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation as the main sponsor, STEPS opened the 4th of seven ‘Yalla Niqra’ (‘Let’s Read’) libraries. The library is located at the Women’s Charity of Al Hashemiyah in the Ma’an governorate and contains over 160 Arabic children’s books of stories and non-fiction suitable for readers of 4 – 16 years.

Many children were gathered there when we came, all excitedly waiting for their new library. Some took part in reading activities and a quiz, while others played outside. The STEPS team of Luzan, Rasha, Sajeda and Mutaz did a great job of interacting with the children and introducing the books in a fun way.

A few days later we were informed that local officials had come for a formal opening of the library and had distributed gifts to the children.

‘Yalla Niqra’ (‘Let’s Read’) aims to promote the joy of reading and reaches out to all 12 governorates of Jordan.

Thank you to ABDUL HAMEED SHOMAN FOUNDATION as the main sponsor of ‘Yalla Niqra’
