STEPS volunteers drove down from Amman to Karameh, below sea level by the Jordan River, to conduct a Read Aloud activity for more than 35 boys and girls at the Karameh Sports Club.

The children took part in fun competitions based on information found in attractive, well-illustrated children’s books. The aim of Read Aloud events is to promote the joy of reading and stimulate interest in books, as well as develop self-confidence through public reading.

Thank you to volunteers Ahmad, Suha and Martina who did a great job, as well as to all those who helped make it happen.

After the activity we had the chance to take an interesting guided tour of the town of Karameh and learned much of its historical background.

For more information on the benefits of reading aloud, see World Read Aloud Day (WRAD)
