Another Let’s Read event sponsored by Jordan Ahli Bank took place today, this time at Al Beira Society in Eira & Irqa near Salt (Al Balqa governorate).
Fifty boys and girls participated in reading aloud and enjoyed the competitions and all the new information they learned.
To ensure sustainability STEPS donated a wooden book cabinet containing nearly 100 attractive age-appropriate books in Arabic which will be available for anyone to borrow as a lending library.
To our surprise we learned from a teacher that three of the children who read aloud with us were receiving special attention at school because of reading difficulties. Yet they read without problem and thoroughly enjoyed the competition!
It is our hope that Let’s Read events will help to cultivate in all those who take part a new interest for reading and learning from books.
