We found a fitting quote on the wall of the society we went to in Dhaher Al Saru, Jerash. It said: ‘Hungry for a Good Book’.
How relevant as we were there to present one of our Let’s Read activities designed to encourage independent reading among school-age children.
STEPS volunteers Aysar, Luzan and Jude did a great job of leading 40 children in reading aloud and fun competitions.
Then we introduced the new mini lending library, with its carefully selected collection of children’s books – over 135 of them – which will now be available to benefit the local community.
