The STEPS team visited the Hashemiyah Ladies’ Charitable Society again to follow up on the Yalla Niqra / ‘Let’s Read library which was established there in October under the sponsorship of Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation’s 2018 grant.
We were delighted to see how the joy of reading had touched these children and to hear them tell us of their favorite reading moments. After a session of colorful arts-and-crafts, prizes were distributed (including Canary chocolate treats kindly donated by the manufacturer). We spoke to the person overseeing the library and saw that books had already been borrowed 43 times. Well done, team!
