Another new library was launched, this time in the governorate of Aqaba, at the Amani Charitable Society for the Care of Orphans and Handicapped in a village called Qreiqra in Wadi Araba.

This is the 5th of 7 libraries made possible by Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation’s 2018 grant as our main sponsor and we are thankful for their great support!

The opening event consisted of an interactive reading activity for children, who were given the title of Reading Pioneers. During our next visit in a few weeks we will follow up on their assignments and distribute prizes to those who completed them.

The library contains 160 Arabic books of stories and non-fiction specially selected for readers of 4-16 years. Once again STEPS volunteers Luzan, Rasha, Sajeda and Mutaz did a great job of spreading the joy of reading in a remote community in the South of Jordan.
