Supporting Refugees with a Toy Library

One of the many social problems faced by refugees – when parents cannot work and children cannot go to school – is boredom. To help curb this problem for Iraqi refugees who have been in this situation in Amman for a year, STEPS launched a mini version of what is known in some countries as Ludothèque, or Toy Library. Vocational Training Graduates

This summer two students from Talbieh Camp graduated from their two-year vocational training courses, which were made possible by a private donor who sponsored their daily expenses. Vocational training courses average from 6 to 24 months depending on the profession, after which the student is able to be a financial help to their families. Fawwaz studied car mechanics. Dhiya studied sanitation construction. Both young men are now able to find jobs in their respective fields. Read more…

Educational Outing for Refugee Children

A total of 120 children had the chance to visit the Children’s Museum this week thanks to the generosity of a kind donor who covered their transportation costs. The children are Iraqi and fled their hometown of Mosul a year ago. The visit was well organized by their supervisors. Al Fawanees 2015 – Event 9

This iftar event took place at Modern American School for children who came from Saqr Quraish Society for Orphans in Marka. Activities started with fun time on the green field and in the playground, followed by a nice catered meal at sundown, complete with ice cream. One hundred boys and girls from Al Haya Irada Charitable Society in Jabal Taj (Amman) came for games and iftar this evening. Modern American School provided the location.
