The following items were distributed this month: – 3,540 meals, collected from 5-star hotel excess food by Family Kitchen volunteers. Fun Trips to Istiklal Mall (2011)

There were two FUNDAYS for groups of children from Baqa’a refugee camp this month. Both trips were lots of fun, starting with learning how to play bowling, then bumper cars and rides at the playground, lunch at the café, and finally a basic optical test for early detection of potential eye problems. Revisiting Libraries (2011)

Follow-up visits were made this month to two libraries, one in Sal (Irbid) and one in Smakiyah (Karak) to check on their conditions and encourage book reading. These libraries, set up in recent years with the help of different sponsors, not only offer quality reading materials for children, but also provide a place for them to gather for group activities. 32,000 Meals Served this Ramadan (2011)

What a busy, busy month of Ramadan! Every day, Family Kitchen volunteers were on the job, collecting and distributing excess food from hotels, restaurants and bakeries and together they reached an astonishing 32,000 meals!! Much of the food came from 5-star establishments and was delivered to needy people in places such as Madaba, Jabal Nuzha, Al Manara, Schneller Camp, Hay Nazzal and Mubes. Two of our Tamkeen Sponsored Students (2011)

Muatasem is a Tamkeen recipient who has been studying Mechanical Engineering at Balqa University. Here he is, displaying his graduation project. Mohammed, also a Tamkeen recipient, studied Computer Engineering at the Hashemite University. His energy-saving project proposal received first place in the Graduation Projects Competition.
