Al Fawanees 2015 – Event 3

Our next iftar event for 100 boys and girls was held at Al Asriyya School and benefitted children from Baqa’a refugee camp. Many thanks to Bank of Jordan for their financial sponsorship. Donated Meals for Iftar

STEPS would like to thank the management and staff of Sbarro Italian Restaurant in Mecca Mall for their generous donation. One hundred and fifty meals were distributed to needy families in the Mahatta area on Sunday in time for the breaking of the fast. (No photos of the beneficiaries are available.) Thank you to International Community School for sponsoring our 2nd Al Fawanees iftar event for 100 disadvantaged boys and girls. The first Al Fawanees iftar event of this year hosted 100 boys and girls from Wahdat refugee camp and included games, sports, food, a Fun Science show and gifts of scooters for every child. FUNDAY – Pottery and Park

How special to create something with your own hands! In June orphan children from Jabal Taj were invited to a FUNDAY which included a ceramic-making session and a fun trip to King Hussein Park. The pottery items designed and created by the children were later fired and glazed at the ceramic center. Busy FUNDAY at Traffic Garden

Ten children from Wahdat Camp enjoyed fun activities at the Greater Amman Municipality traffic garden. The visit included an interactive session on traffic safety and civic responsibility, as well as the opportunity to drive a motorized cart around the course, enjoy the park and play games, including the playground game “parachute”. FUNDAY Bowling Trip

Thank you to Bowling City, Optikos Shami, individual donors and to our great volunteers Michael, Hedaia, Range and Ayser, for providing an action-packed FUNDAY for Syrian refugee children in Mukhtar Mall, Amman. The event included bowling, puzzle competitions, a game of Hat Shoot, lunch, eye tests… and lots of fun. Distribution in Refugee Camp

After sorting and packing donated clothes and household items, we delivered them to a kindergarten in Baqa’a refugee camp, along with much needed milk powder and baby diapers. Funds were also given for adult diapers for disabled persons. Then we had the chance to visit the UNRWA Disability Center and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the lovely children and their dedicated teachers. Read Aloud Activity in Karameh (Jordan Valley)

STEPS volunteers drove down from Amman to Karameh, below sea level by the Jordan River, to conduct a Read Aloud activity for more than 35 boys and girls at the Karameh Sports Club. The children took part in fun competitions based on information found in attractive, well-illustrated children’s books. The aim of Read Aloud events is to promote the joy of reading and stimulate interest in books, as well as develop self-confidence through public reading. Read more…

FUNDAY – Colorful Egg Hunt

Today’s outing to a park with 20 children from Al Hussein refugee camp included an egg hunt in the natural surroundings, enjoyed by all – volunteers included! After lunch there was a chance to decorate the remaining eggs for taking home, along with a small gift package.
